If you have an idea of something you would like to see on the website, you can post it here. Others can discuss it and if it's good, and if a volunteer has the time, it will be implemented.

Don't expect too much huh, we're just volunteers and this is NOT facebook.

Comments for non-logged-in people

A friend of mine just commented to me on the artwork that was made in Berlin. I thought it'd be nice if she could have done it on the website. She's not a hitchhiker but she's an artist. It's too bad she can't share her point of view.

Can't we allow non-logged-in people to comment and the comment would need to be accepted by a moderator (to avoid spam)?

the spam filter we have now

the spam filter we have now is a very good one (mollom). All content that is submitted first goes through a filter and that is a pretty tough one - so from that site there is no problem.

On the other hand, we do like it when people get a profile here, especially when they are hitching/ participating. Making it possible for non-registered users to place a comment will automatically mean

1) that people who are registered, do not login when they leave a comment and subsequently what they say is not linked to us seeing who they are/ background, etc

2) less people will register so we will have less means of communicating

If those two issues are no real problems for you, than we can enable open comments and evaluate it again after a little while?

SMS BLOG in our SITE

I would like to use the SMS blog and embed it to our site.

I talked to philipp Tweek and he says we can have a list of names and phones numbers and the blog can filter our messages and only display ours.

He said it's easy to embed.

Now we just need to gather a number-usename list. This could be included in the sign up.

Also, once it's set up we can post it in the main page or somewhere so people know they can follow us there.

:D

ok - let's work on this. We

ok - let's work on this. We would need a clear message for users why we ask for their phone-number, so we associate their nick with their phone-number.

For the people who enabled it, we can export that data to the sms-blog. We can then pull the text people submitted through the sms-blog, back to hitchgathering.org through our aggregator module.

I can do this together with MrTweek.
