First day of pre-meeting Berlin
Already at the dinner-event before the actual meeting we hardly could speak about anything else than: where are we going to meet this year? Where is the next location? And today from the first moments of the pre-meeting some of us wanted to jump straight to a decision.
We were with 14 people today. Reaching a consensus about a destination seemed to be almost as difficult as back in Odesa where we sat down to make a decision with twice or even three times as many people.
We kind of agreed that the sooner we can make a decision for a destination, the better. If we have that sorted, we can work on the foundation of the event like flyers, location-stuff, outreach, etc.
Also, we did reach a conclusion how we want to reach a decision :) At one given moment tomorrow we will close the poll and go for the number one top-destination. If among ourselves we cannot reach a consensus about that destination, we will find another way for reaching the decision.
We also brainstormed a lot. We spoke about funding options, promotions, outreach, our goals and criteria. For tomorrow we will discuss the funding option again, as well as the destination, promotion, website and work that can be done.
You can find the minutes here:

We want you to add your vote! We also encourage you to edit the wiki or give your comment here.

yeah we can agree with that. There are several reasons why we went ahead with a decision in the end.
First of all, we can't take visa-issues into account every year. That would mean our list of destinations would be limited to just a couple each year.
Secondly, participants from Russia are on this website, have received the newsletter and could have spoken up.
One of the other proposals this weekend was to create a new poll with the top three destinations but there was an overal consensus to push forward a destination anyway, so we can actually start working on that.
All in all, I am happy we discussed this also by phone earlier today with you.
Actually, maybe we can make it possible for off-Schengen citizens to participate. We know personally all the hitchhikers that were in Odessa, that'll help.
I wrote to Arthyom and Katia, let's see.
